Did this King die on the toilet?

King George II of Great Britain ruled for more than thirty years but history paid more attention to her personal relationships: namely his quarrels with his father and son. Modern historians have evaluated him as a simple man who was not exciting but was a capable king.

George was rumored to have died while he was on the throne. Not the throne usually associated with kings but the toilet. On the morning of October 25, 1760, the King rose around six, as was normal. He drank a cup of hot chocolate and retreated to his close stool. A close stool was an early toilet, which was a cabinet that contained a chamber pot inside. Soon after the King entered the toilet, his servants heard a crash. The King was found laying on the ground, next to his close stool.

The servants lifted the King into his bed. It is disputed whether he was alive. The King’s daughter, Princess Amelia, was summoned. He died before she arrived, aged seventy six. The King’s physician, Frank Nicholls was tasked with performing the King’s autopsy.
