Lady Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor is the youngest granddaughter of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Louise is the only daughter and eldest child of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and his wife, Sophie Rhys-Jones. As Louise is a granddaughter of the reigning monarch she is entitled to use the title of Princess of the United Kingdom, like her other male line cousins. Yet, she is styled as Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor.
The two other male line granddaughters of the Queen are Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Both Beatrice and Eugenie were styled as Princesses from birth and have maintained those titles, even after their marriages to non-royal men. Why wasn’t Louise titled Princess Louise? Louise was not snubbed, this choice was made for her, for very calculating reasons.
